"Micromelancolié is Robert Skrzyński, a Polish ambient/experimental musician whose discography counts a few dozens of releases on various respectable independet labels. As well as many other of Micromelancolié releases, Niwa is being released as a tape, and according to Skrzyński's words it's been planned as one of the parts of his record series referring to “changes in human understanding of reality, concept of true, and information overload caused by internet as a basic part of everyday life.” 

Skrzyński here once again continues in his proved practice of sound collaging, creating an adventurous ambient world made from pieces of manipulated found sounds, field recordings, static glitch, somewhat disquieting spatious pads and sound objects. As a result he brings us an album that is fragile yet exciting, adventurous and fairly daydream inducing."

Phattcut - Cosmic Hand EP

I heard about Phattcut in 2014 for the first time thanks to 5:55 netlabel. I still like to listen to the raices ep. I posted about this material on my blog. Next i/o vert last year but it was not my style.
Few days ago Phattcut self released his new EP called Cosmic Hand. It starts quite slowly with weird chords and glitchy beats in Hadrons, then we have Elephant Walk with amazing ethnic percussions and flutes. My favourite track Etna is a trip from downtempo to deep house music. It was a cooperation with Essex. I also recommend his album 'Dualizm' which was released in a digibook with a special story written to his music. I'd really like to hear a whole material like 'Etna'. It remainded me of Cotton Claws 'Elusive' EP which I bought last year from Cascade Records bandcamp page.
Kalimfa slows down for a moment just to drop dubstep like drums onto these ambient, orchestral bells (or whatever they are) used in the song. In Kambo we can hear again some ethnic broken beats with flutes and vocals that sounds like taken straight from the hearth of Africa.

Highly recommended. I hope we will see a physical version soon.

HimeHime - Bath Texts

"Hush Hush is proud to welcome Seattle-based electronic musician HimeHime into the fold with his transportive mini-album 'Bath Texts,' the most personal and accomplished release in the young artist’s already prolific career. 

The alias of Mackenzie Simon, HimeHime began his musical journey with the guitar when he picked up the instrument at the age of eight. His development progressed while working as a children’s guitar teacher as a teenager, playing in his high school’s jazz band, and later jamming out in multiple garage rock bands. Tommy’s Guitar Shop in Everett, Washington offered him a welcome respite from school, providing a home base for lessons as well as the opportunity to mess around with various types of pedals and effects. The IDMf netlabel proudly presents Of Storybook and Sound by RFJ, a five track EP that cleverly mixes minimalism and IDM with glitchy breakbeat rhythms and layers of darkness and mystery that seem to have characters all their own. 

A girl’s voice can be heard in the opening track, her words echoing as she sees a light and exclaims “maybe they can help us”. The listener is cleverly kept at bay from the origin of such a story and is instead pushed by the music to create their own imagery and their own story. The girl, sometimes nearby, sometimes far away, continues to narrate throughout. Her voice cuts up, repeats and turns into mountainous echoes that continue to build over rolling glitchy drums and synths that crunch and glide. 

Of Storybook and Sound can be both creepy and comforting at the same time, both homely and exotic, and with a strong sense of dynamic it stops and starts to make you listen. At points it makes you wonder what you’re really hearing, it makes you wonder what’s happening, but it doesn’t leave you frustrated like a cryptic puzzle or an unsolved mystery. of Storybook and Sound inflames the imagination and paints so many different pictures all at once. 

In a "A Version Of Me", RFJ takes us on a trip that is just as personal and as thought provoking as this release. Talking us through his own personal journey into darkness and back into light culminating in these tracks as an aural archive of that journey.

Ze względu na podobne okoliczności powstawania, „NANO” jest swoistą kontynuacją „Cookies” – poprzedniej produkcji Eufoteorii, młodego beatmakera z Gołdapii. Jak sam autor mówi „w trakcie prac nad materiałem, który z czasem przyjął postać „NANO”, starałem się eksperymentować z oscylatorami, sprawdzić jakie możliwości dają proste generatory dźwięku. Stąd na epce przewaga brzmień syntezowanych.” W nieco późniejszym okresie powstały utwory z wyróżniającymi się, dogranymi przez Eufoteorię żywymi instrumentami, takimi jak np. cytra. „NANO” swym wkładem wzbogacili Zaspał (wspólne „Oversleep”), znany ze współpracy z Cruzem, Kiddem i Ziołem, oraz turtnablista Lapsy, który może być kojarzony z remiksu singla Eufoteorii „Ayahuasca” – jego skrecze można usłyszeć w “IFEELDIZZZY” i “Baloonman”. Do tego drugiego kawałka powstała subtelna videowizualizacja, autorstwa wspominanego już Cruza. Bonus Track EPki stanowi zremiksowany przez Eufoteorię utwór "Perspektywa Tygodniowej Samotności" autorstwa Random Tripa, który został przez niego wyróżniony w konkursie. Okładkę albumu przygotował Paweł „Pablosz” Wiśniewski.

Riscoperta is the SpinOFF’s debut ep for Smashtales.
